Class B Commercial Drivers License MORNING & AFTERNOON sessions

Instructor: Dan Eaton, Retired State Trooper, CDL Section

Each student will receive 20 hours of training, which will take place over a 5-day period.  This 20-hour program will be broken into 4-hour sessions per day.  Training includes air brake test, pre trip inspection, 4 maneuvers on the CDL course that are required to pass the test and the road test portion.  Upon completion of the 20 hours, the student will be ready to take and pass THE CDL CLASS B EXAM. NOTE: the prerequisites for this course include: (1) Ability to drive standard transmission, large commercial vehicle (2) DOT medical certificate and (3) Commercial learners permit (CLP). Class size limited to 4.

Hoisting 2A /1C License Prep 

Instructor: Dan Eaton, Retired State Trooper, CDL Section

Earn your license to operate an excavator, backhoe, front-end loader and skid-steer. Class also offers license for operators of forklifts, rough terrain telescopic handlers (Lull), and knucklebooms. Designed to give the applicant all the necessary info to pass the Mass Dept. of Public Safety 2A and 1C hoisting exams. Students must complete State application and sign-up for exam by September 26th. Exam is October 26th in Taunton. Free transportation to Taunton will be provided.

Unrestricted Contractors Supervisor License Prep

Instructor: Bill Howland, Construction Supervisor Training

 

Prep course covers construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, removal, and demolition involving any activity regulated by the code for: 1) 3500 cubic foot enclosed spaces; 2) One and two family dwellings or any accessory building thereto, irrespective of size; 3) Buildings used for farm purposes and; 4) Retaining walls less than 10 feet in height at all points along the wall as measured from the base of the footing to the top of the wall. This license includes all of the Specialty Licenses. Material required for course: 8th Edition Commercial Code  Book, 8th Edition Residential Code Book, IECC Energy Code and Architectural Access Code. Fertilizer Applicator Certification Workshop

Instructor: Umass, Amherst Turf Program, Island Boards of Health

Local fertilizer regulations are in effect as of January 15, 2015. Get certified! This course will allow you to become certified to handle and use fertilizer in each town per new local regulations. Learn about the new regulations for professional development or personal enrichment. Ideal for island farmers, landscapers, gardeners, turf management businesses and interested homeowners.

ServSafe Food Handling Certification

Get certified to serve food! This one day workshop is convenient for those with busy schedules. Successful completion of this course and exam meets state and local requirements for a Person in Charge (PIC) of a food service establishment. Textbook, exam, anti-choking training, integrated FDA and State Food Codes and employee training materials are included. Pesticide Licensure And CEU Workshop

Instructor: Gabrielle Sakolsky, Entomologist

For non-licensed seeking licensure:
This 4-hour workshop will prepare you to sit for the Pesticide Applicator (CORE) and Dealer Licensure Test. Class includes a free bus trip from Woods Hole to Bourne to sit for the exam on the morning of April 18th. Participants who are interested in sitting for the exam must register before April 11th, 2017 with the Massachusetts Department of Energy and Environmental Affairs. The exam will be held at 9:00am on Tuesday, April 18th at Upper Cape Tech Regional School in Bourne. A shuttle will be provided at Woods Hole to take students to the exam. Students will need to purchase the book “New Core Manual (3rd Ed.) w/MA Core Supplement(2014)”.

Adult Basic Education and HiSET Exam Prep

Get yourself on a track toward a career and more fulfilling employment. This program prepares adults to make a successful transition from post-secondary programs and begin careers in high-demand fields. Prepare yourself for taking the HiSET Examination and/or develop the communication skills to advance toward a career. Diagnostic testing is offered for each student to measure proficiency in five subject areas: reading, writing, math, science, and history. A “flipped classroom” design and rolling admissions individualizes your learning experience through computer-based tutoring. Free mentorships available. Scholarships available.
