About the instructor

Angela Prout is Partner/Co-Owner of Shored Up Digital, a Martha’s Vineyard based social media management and digital marketing agency. She began her career in marketing communications at BBDO New York, one of the country’s leading advertising agencies. She has always been fascinated with the creative ways that brands engage their consumers and their ability to develop meaningful relationships online. After seven years in corporate marketing Angela felt the need for more personal client interaction, and along with her passion for creating, was led to pursue a career as a barber/hair stylist. In 2014, while visiting Martha’s Vineyard on her honeymoon, she was offered a job at Benito’s Hairstyling on Circuit Avenue and moved to the Island right away.

In addition to being a hairstylist she held various positions at the MV Times the first few years she was on-Island, and recognized the obvious need for marketing services for our local small businesses. In 2018 she partnered with Marnely Murray, her food writer from her days at the MV Times, and created Shored Up Digital which has supported over 40 island based businesses in the last two years. In the ‘Vineyard Way’ she now splits her time between beautifying clients through her mobile hairstyling business Coast to Coast Cuts and helping Island businesses enhance their own images. When she’s not working you can find her exploring the great outdoors, traveling, and spending time over delicious meals with her private chef husband.
