This class is an overview for anyone new to Medicare, those turning 65 or adults taking care of elderly parents. It covers the essentials: eligibility, enrollment periods, and coverage including Part A, B, C, and D, which includes prescription drug plans. The seminar will help you to gain a healthy understanding of what is and is not covered, learn about insurance options including supplemental plans/Medigap, and about public benefit programs for lower income beneficiaries (MassHealth, Buy-In, Health Safety Net, Low Income).
About the instructor
Mary Leddy, Assistant Director at Vineyard Health Access, has a background in public health including women’s health and senior services. Mary became a certified SHINE Counselor (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Elders) in 2008 and developed a specialization in health benefit programs for elders, which includes expertise in the intersection of multiple programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Mary has taught this annual Medicare seminar at ACE MV for several years.
